The client was a global logistics systems and technology company who develop supply chain platforms to simplify processes.
The client required technical support and guidance concerning customs procedures, duty payments, tax calculations, UK regulations and import/export requirements for their Customs Clearance Software platform. The platform was being developed for integration with the Customs Handling of Import and Export Freight (CHIEF) system and the Customs Declaration Service (CDS) system.
Taking a phased approach, Ian Simmonds conducted an initial gap analysis of the client’s existing software solution against the UK customs requirements. Ian hosted workshops to help identify process data requirements to support both the CHIEF and CDS systems. Ian helped the client restructure their software solution to meet UK requirements, re-specified service requirements and technology, while providing expertise and consultancy.
Ian mapped end-to-end import / export process flows and steps within both CHIEF and CDS, identifying the data elements required for Customs Declarations.
